Indoor Environments: Consistency is Key

For indoor crops to flourish, they require balance and consistency in the grow environment. Without consistency, plants suffer unnecessary stress which prevents them from reaching their full potential. Inconsistency in your grow can also be very expensive. From wasted materials like nutrients and gas, to over utilized resources such as water or electricity, it is extremely costly to run a cultivation operation inefficiently.

How do you make your facility more efficient? Through automation. Automation is a wonderful way to create consistency in your grow.

Hardware that is normally activated or deactivated by a person, can be automated and controlled through programmed set points. These set points tell the control system exactly how you want the environment to be. If anything changes, the system will activate or deactivate any component to reach the programmed set point.

Unfortunately, not all environmental control systems are capable of providing a consistent environment. Let’s use the CO2 enrichment component as an example. Control systems using on/off valves produce CO2 saturation spikes because when the valve is on (open) it takes time to reach targeted level. Over saturation of gas exposes the plants to potentially toxic levels of CO2 that cause permanent and irreversible damage.

enVgrow’s Intelligent CO2 System (ICS) employs special valves to release CO2 gas in a very precise manner, avoiding the high and harmful saturation levels, and keeping the environment as consistent as possible.
