LIFE SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE

At enVgrow, we know when it comes to life safety, the importance of effective equipment is catamount. With our years of experience with life safety and code compliance with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), you can be confident your enVgrow system will pass commissioning and is the safest in the industry.

Compliance

Code Compliance

As part of our complete solution, we make sure your facility is compliant upon commissioning and remains compliant for the duration of ownership.

The exact cost of non-compliance can be difficult to determine, especially when it ranges beyond fines and can include the loss of life or total loss of a facility.

Because of this, we design our systems to meet or exceed regulatory requirements. We follow International Fire Code (IFC) regulations as well as all regulatory codes at the federal, state, and local levels.

We work with the authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) to make sure your facility is safe and compliant. Everything you need to maintain compliance is included as part of our system. These are items such as:

  • Alarms (audible - horn and visible -  strobe light)
  • Compliant gas detection sensors (wall mounted gas detection sensors)
  • Required signage
  • Calibration of sensors (as required by AHJ)

OSHA has set limits for exposures to chemicals and gases and has charted the maximum limits based on ppm and hours of exposure.

Historical Horror Stories

Some of our competitor companies offer similar services to control CO₂, but it is just an additional offering for them - not their specialty. Their main services are:
  • HVAC control
  • Lighting control
  • Irrigation control
  • General monitoring/control system
    • Subcontracting of life-safety for vendors who cannot assist with this required service in-house.
  • Not their specialty, higher risk, don’t offer life safety (farmed out, not included in standard control systems)

No component other than CO₂ in the grow has the potential to cause serious injury or death. It is critical to trust the company in control of CO₂ because it may be your life on the line.

Holliston, MA

A multimillion-dollar cultivation facility that was supposed to be state of the art was utilizing incorrect materials when working with CO₂ hardware, resulting in an unfortunate system failure. In addition, it lacked proper safety equipment, such as a safety valve and flow control into enriched zones. As well as proper alarming equipment.

Denver, CO

Long-standing laboratory in Denver, not operating to code (utilizing CO2 to create distillate) without life-safety monitoring.

Human error after cleaning equipment resulted in a gas leak, an explosion followed - no alarms or life safety equipment, the lucky extractor was not in the sealed extraction room at the time of the explosion - seen on camera, heard, and felt by nearby employees. The monitoring system would have detected trace amounts of gas in the air, indicating a failure and alerting/alarming the operator.

Denver, CO

Long-standing laboratory in Denver, not operating to code (utilizing butane to create concentrates) without life-safety monitoring.

Human error in operation, as well as simple equipment failure, resulted in explosion during the extraction process. Before the explosion, while hardware was failing, there were no alarms or warnings, lucky extractor was not in the sealed extraction pod at the time of the explosion - seen on camera, heard, and felt by nearby employees. The monitoring system would have detected trace amounts of hydrocarbons in the air, indicating a failure and alerting/alarming the operator.

Longmnont, CO

Chatting with an executive at a white label CO₂  processing company, they candidly spoke about a laboratory explosion and fire resulting in moderate injuries to the operator.
